I know it’s not quite feeding 5,000, but then again I’m not quite Jesus. (You can listen to my sermon on the Feeding of the 5,000 given in August.) Our church has dinner every Wednesday at 5:30 and I usually do the cooking and Diane almost always makes the desserts. We can have anywhere from 40 to 75 people. Last night we had 75. We have an offering basket at the door to allow people to donate whatever money they can to help defray the cost. Last night the total given was $95. Understanding that some people put in a little more and some aren’t able to give anything, the average donated was $1.05 per person last night. We are blessed to be able to feed so many with so little money. Dinner was pork loin, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, tea, and desserts. (We also had some noodles and coleslaw sent from an Eastern Star dinner held earlier in the day.) People took home the leftover food so that the only thing that remained was dessert which we gathered up so none would be wasted. The evening ended with a devotion on Genesis 13 & 14 about Abram and Lot and forgiveness. It was a good night.
