Coming and Going

I’ve finished Sunday’s sermon for big church and it includes an interesting twist.  Jesus continues to say come until we come and then all of the sudden He  starts saying “go”.  Go tell people to come to Him.  My Facebook “status” for the last 14 hours has been:  “The church must be a training ground for missionaries rather than an entitlement program for the existing members. ~ Bill Easum”

We come and He teaches us how to go.  We come and are empowered and equipped to go.  We don’t go alone.  We have other sisters and brothers going with us.  And more importantly, God sends His Spirit with us.

And we tell people to come.  Come to Jesus.  And when they do, what does Jesus do?  Equips them, empowers them, and tells them to go:  Go tell people to come to Him.  And when they do?

See how this works?  See how it can break down if someone doesn’t go?  See how it can break down when YOU don’t go?
