I’m waiting to go to the food pantry to help unload the truck from the Huntington Area Food Bank. It will be there in about an hour. I can’t wait until tomorrow when our church goes into Zuspan’s Trailer Park to have a VBS Day/Block Party in their neighborhood. Three weeks from tomorrow 10 or so of us are going to New Orleans on a week long mission trip. It was three weeks ago that we had our 5th annual free community ice cream social. Yesterday, today, tomorrow. The past, the present, the future.
Pastor David Platt is in Eastern India right this minute preaching the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ. He just posted to Facebook: Pray now for open hearts. Gospel bring preached to a group of people in Bihar with Muslim call to prayer in the background. I have been lifting him and those hearing the Word in prayer. We are so cognizant of time. We are so constrained by time. It’s beyond our human comprehension that God is not bound by time.
God is already in New Orleans, in Slidell, already waiting for us to show up. I can’t comprehend it. God was already in Eastern India waiting for David Platt to show up and proclaim His Word.
Even if we don’t completely understand how God can do it, if we can at least know it and believe it even though we can’t really comprehend it, how comforting would that be? To know that whatever happens, good or bad, God is already there.
Psalm 139 is a great Psalm about how awesome God is. It says Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence? If I ascend to heaven, Thou art there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, Thou art there.
Also, I suggest you take a few minutes to soak it in as you listen to Psalm 139 from MercyMe:
