It’s November 2nd and Facebook is due for a long month of “I’m thankful for…” I’m not one to go with the flow. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to be thankful, but the Bible tells us being thankful is something we need to do all the time and in every circumstance, not just during a month when our society tells us to.
In 1 Thessalonians 5, under “final instructions” where Bible’s have headings, we get this: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
While you’re giving thanks this month, don’t overlook the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our choir occasionally sings a song, “Every Morning is Easter Morning”. It says, “Every day’s resurrection day…” Be thankful that our God’s not dead, but He has risen and He’s alive. And He has sent His Spirit to live in us, to help us love Him and love our neighbor as ourselves. So in reality, we should consider every day Thanksgiving, every day Easter Morning, and every day Valentine’s Day – Being thankful every day that Jesus is risen, that He loves us, and that His Spirit will help us love others. Happy ThanksEasterTine’s Day!
