For the past few years, most Mondays I have watched my friend Tom Beckette’s sermon from the day before on his church web site at www.nighbert.org. Today I listened to it, but I wasn’t even sure what he said. I tried to listen to the words, but all I really heard was his voice. It was comforting. It brought me a sense of peace. It was a little bit of ‘normal’ in a whirlwind that is not yet normal.
It reminds me of Jesus saying in John 10:27 – “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me”. Whatever we go through, we need to listen for God’s voice. Sometimes God’s voice is not the loudest voice we hear, but when we hear it, Jesus says we know it. And if I thought Tom’s voice was soothing, how much more so if I listen for God’s voice in the uncertain times. And that’s what He wants. Listen for His voice today and every day. You’ll know it when you hear it.
