Off to be the hands and feet…

In my first week here at our new church I did some research and found a homeless shelter that is 15 minutes from where we live.  They feed people 20 meals a week.  I was excited to have a place so close.  We had to basically drive an hour one way from Mason to get to Huntington where we would feed 100-125 homeless.

This morning we are meeting in a few minutes to start preparing the food to take to the Union Rescue Mission.  We’re starting off feeding them twice a month.  As we prepare the food, I’m excited to see what God has prepared for us today.

This is the type of thing that excites me.  I love doing this type of work on behalf of Jesus.  Some of you do, too.  And others of you do not like this type of thing.  Not everyone is called to that ministry.  It’s good we aren’t all called to the same thing.  Some of you love to, and are called to, visit people who are no longer able to get out of their home.  Not everyone is called to that ministry.  It’s good we aren’t all called to the same thing.

What excites you?  What creates that spark in you?  I hope you are doing that thing once in a while.  You don’t need your pastor or church board to set it up.  If God has called you to do it, and given you a passion for it, He will be with you as you carry out the mission.  Just move forward.
