Today’s sunrise at the beach is beautiful, as every sunrise at the beach is. But in my heart of hearts, I find it no more beautiful than a sunrise or sunset in the mountains. It’s just a different kind of beautiful. While you may prefer one over the other, one or the other is only more or less beautiful in your eyes. Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. I can imagine people who live at the beach would even begin to take the beauty of a sunrise on the beach for granted.
Likewise, none of us who follow Jesus is any more beautiful or beloved to God than any other. The preacher is not more special in God’s eyes than the most looked down upon person in his or her congregation. And the wealthiest person in the congregation is no more special or less special to God than the poorest. It’s just another reminder to you and to me that God does not love any of His children any more than another one. We are all just different – some of us way, way different 😉
