Life is a Highway

There’s a phrase I like that says, “If you don’t care where you’re going, any road will take you there.”  Sometimes people go for drives and they aren’t in a hurry and don’t know where they’re going.  We usually get behind them when we ARE in a hurry and have somewhere in particular we need to be.  (And all the people said, Amen).

Another popular phrase (made really popular in a song by Rascal Flatts) concerning roads is “Life is a Highway”.  I like the thought of life being a highway.  Many theologians call it a journey.

Whatever you call it or however you look at it, we all have a starting point and a finish line.  The starting point we know, the finish line is unknown by us.  And today we’re all in the ‘time in between’.  And most of the time we take it for granted.

Last night Diane was looking at her phone in the dark.  It illuminated her face.  And she doesn’t know how I appreciated the moment.  You will have moments today that seem so commonplace and routine.  And there’s nothing wrong with common, routine days – so long as we don’t overlook them.  Today is a milepost on the highway of your life and there’s something to be thankful for and appreciate.
