The big difference above and below the clouds

Last week I flew back from Florida.  As we flew, I took this picture of the clouds.  The contrast against the blue sky is beautiful. However, this beauty is only visible when you are above them.  When you are below they block out the sun and instead of fluffy white and gradient blue, it is a greyscale world.  On a completely cloudy day we know the sun is still there.  We know the blue sky is still there.  But we cannot see it from below the clouds. Yet we know.

It is the difference between this side and the other side of the grave.  Through faith in Christ, we who are His know this lost world is not representative of what awaits us after death.  While we currently live on earth we face depressing times, difficult people, diseases, etc.  Jesus knew what kind of world it was.  That is precisely why He came to die on the cross.  He is our only hope.  Yet even when we are His, He did not want His children to be discouraged over this life.  He said in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

So when the bad days come, which they do for all of us, know the truth as relayed by Paul in Romans 8:18: “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.”  Hallelujah.  Amen.  Hang in there.

  1. Great insight. May we see above the clouds.

Be blessed. God is in a good mood.
