Diane got some tender little buttercup plants, among other plants, from a friend today. She brought them home and planted them. The greenery looks fragile and delicate. They will probably look wilty all day today. The good news is our friend Pat Sullivan said on the radio (Magic 100.5) this morning that we have rain coming. I know that’s not good news for Saturday ball games, but it is good news for our buttercups. And the better news is that the plants all have great roots. They went in soil that’s moist and cool underneath fresh mulch. No matter how the greenery fares in the transition, I am certain the plants will make it.
It is a reminder to me how important the roots are. The Bible talks a lot of roots and foundations. It is a reminder that a faith that is rooted in Jesus may become battered and bruised, but He will continue to nourish and sustain us. So when the storms come, hang in there!
While there is certainly a lot we do not know, we do know this – that He has overcome and He is faithful. You may not know the answer to every question, but it is comforting to know the One who does…. and to know that He is for you.
I know not what of good or ill
May be reserved for me,
Of weary ways or golden days,
Before His face I see.
But “I know Whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I’ve committed
Unto Him against that day.”
