A way that works

I earn gas points when I shop at a local grocery store.  When I earn enough points to get free gas I am permitted to get 25 gallon. I do not have a vehicle that will hold that much so I take gas cans to fill.  Then I have to pour the gas into my vehicle.  The newer gas cans do not have the air hole like the old ones did, hence the gas goes in slowly from the can to the car.  I figured out that my gas grill is the right height to hold the gas can. It is a way that works.

Sunday’s sermon is going to be from John chapter 3.  Part of which comes from verses 16-17:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

While there are different ways to put the gas in the car, there is one way to escape the wrath of God at the end of this life.  You and I can be saved through the sacrifice of Jesus.  I can decide if I want to stand there for 5 minutes and hold the gas can or if I want to let the grill hold the weight.  I cannot decide how I can be made right with God.  He decided how we may be made right with Him.  The only choice you and I have in being made right with God is if we will receive the way of escape.

Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”

Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 10:13 – “…for everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 10:9 – “…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
